I don’t have the right bike.
I don’t have the right bike.
And I can’t afford the bike I want, so I can’t start, yet.
This was the BS story I told myself when I first decided to start competing in triathlons.
But I didn’t want to wait until I could afford the bike I really wanted, so I started with what I had…
Yup, this beach cruiser.
Maybe you’re thinking that’s ridiculous Steph. Or maybe you’ve told yourself some version of this BS story…
I can’t get clients because I don’t have testimonials.
I can’t sell anything because I don’t have a website.
I can’t make myself a priority because I don’t have the time.
I can’t invest in myself because I don’t have the money.
And on and on.
Your excuses will continue to win until you decide to start where you are.
And I did. I started training for a triathlon on a beach cruiser, because that was all I had at the time.
And it sucked.
But boy did it motivate me to save faster for my new bike. Not to mention how grateful I was when I did get the road bike because it made riding 10+ miles way faster. 🤪
If you don’t start where you are, you may never. So what’s stronger- your excuses or your reasons?
