Not everything in your business is a crisis.

Not everything in your business is a crisis.

Business tasks can be done on your time.

Unless, you actually work in the ER, most of your business will likely be okay if it isn’t taken care of right this second.

And yet, as entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves reacting all day as if the world will end if we don’t do this thing, right this second.

I’m guilty. 🙋🏼‍♀️

In fact, recently, I found myself being so frustrated at my lack of proficiency with a new software that I could feel myself panic and the fear of losing a sale begin to set in.

At first, I gave in to the fear (which only made things worse). The negative talked started; I thought about quitting; wondering if I was good enough for this, etc. But as I felt full panic begin to increase even more, I stopped myself and chose differently.

I took a deep breath. Told myself it would be okay and if it wasn’t done this second it would not be the end of the world.

My anxiety begin to dissipate and I could think straight. I could choose how to respond without the stress or worry of losing a sale.

I sought out ChatGPT for a solution and slowly made my way through the “overwhelming” task. It wasn’t complete and it certainly wasn’t quick, but I made head way on it and that’s what mattered most.

When we are stressed, we do more of what we know (because we stop actively thinking and go into reactive mode which is simply habit). In this emotional state we will never see a problem differently or find a new solution- we will merely react and will continue to have this same problem come up again and again.

But when we allow ourselves to respond from a calm state, we open ourselves to so many different solutions, which makes our business more effective and efficient.

Giving yourself a chance to choose how to respond to your business requires emotional intelligence and this is vital to growing a thriving and successful business and consequently, something I teach to all my clients.
